Carlos Visbal Salazar – Miami

Dear Blue Exotica Specialist Team, I am writing to express my keen interest in the rehabilitator, rescue, and control positions advertised. With a background in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, along with extensive experience and a robust background in environmental studies and animal sciences, I am confident in my ability to make a substantial contribution to your team. My educational background in Environmental Sciences includes graduating with honors from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. This program has equipped me with a solid foundation in understanding wildlife conservation and management. During my tenure as a Naturalist and Outdoor Recreation Leader at Miami Ecoadventures under the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces department for Miami-Dade County, I directed public interpretive programs on Florida coastal ecosystems, managed wildlife rehabilitation, and instructed participants in various outdoor activities. In addition, I have made significant contributions as an animal caretaker within the Everglades National Park and Safari EDventure, a zoological park. These experiences have further deepened my comprehensive understanding of the critical importance of preserving delicate ecosystems against anthropogenic impacts and threats, including those posed by invasive species. With hands-on experience involving the care of numerous animal species, including exotic mammals, birds, and crocodilians, I have acquired a diverse skill set. My responsibilities have encompassed overseeing diet and enrichment planning, maintaining enclosures, and managing individuals in accordance with wildlife rehabilitation practices. Additionally, I have collaborated with experts in the field, including marine biologists, national park rangers, and exotic veterinarians. These experiences collectively contribute to my qualifications for the various positions available within your team, highlighting my comprehensive understanding of animal care and collaborative work within the field. Residing in Miami and attending the University of Florida has provided exposure to a highly diverse environment, cultivating my ability to work harmoniously with individuals from various backgrounds. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and fluent in English and Spanish, my multicultural experiences have equipped me with the skills necessary for effective public engagement. With a strong foundation in leadership developed from a young age, I’ve successfully supervised teams in various capacities. Initiating my leadership journey as a mentor at the age of 15 for a local indoor rock climbing youth group, I progressed to become the director, establishing a resilient foundation of leadership skills. Throughout my career, I have led numerous tour guides, imparted training to numerous colleagues, orchestrated numerous educational outreach initiatives, directed group outdoor recreation activities, and served as the guide for memorable camping excursions in Wyoming’s backcountry. Furthermore, I have attached my resume and can provide an academic transcript if needed. Feel free to request any additional documents such as references. I am eager to contribute my skills and passion for conservation and animal care practices to the Blue Exotica Specialist Team. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to discussing my qualifications further. Sincerely, Carlos Visbal Salazar
